The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has decided to abandon the 2019/2020 season and declare Vipers SC champions for the season.
Uganda will therefore present Vipers SC for the CAF Champions League while KCCAFC plays in the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2020-2021 season.
FUFA suspended all football activities in compliance with the Ugandan government and the Ministry of Health (MOH)’s directives on the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2019-2020 football season was due to be completed on the June 30 this year but was suspended due to the total lockdown declared by the Ugandan government which is due to end by Tuesday June 9.
On Wednesday May 20, the FUFA Emergency Executive Committee led by FUFA president Moses Magogo decided to implement article 18 of the FUFA statutes since more than 75% of the league matches had been played, with five matches to go. This meant that 83% of the league done had been played and a champion could be declared.
Vipers Sporting Club were leading Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCAFC) by 4 points at the top of the table after 25 rounds of matches.
All the other football leagues including the lower divisions, Women’s League and the Junior Leagues have all been cancelled.

Meanwhile, the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup 2019-2020 still has eleven matches to end and FUFA says it will continue to monitor the situation with the desire to conclude the competition.
