From Recording Under a Blanket to Global Recognition: Frank Edwards Shares Inspiring Journey

Award-winning gospel musician Frank Edwards has opened up about his humble beginnings, revealing the incredible story behind one of his biggest hit songs, Mma Mma.

According to the singer, the song that touched millions around the world was recorded in a very modest home studio using poor-quality equipment. He disclosed that he recorded the track under a blanket while sharing a small room with someone else and never had to re-record it before its official release.

Frank Edwards recalled enduring difficult times, owning only two pairs of jeans, surviving on one meal a day, and earning just ₦15,000 monthly. Despite the hardships, he remained committed to his passion for music and ministry.

His breakthrough came when a gospel music marketer known as Honesty Music visited his studio after hearing about his talent. Although the marketer was surprised by the tiny recording setup, everything changed after listening to Mma Mma and other songs.

Impressed by the music, he offered Frank Edwards a ₦4 million, two-year marketing deal.
The life-changing opportunity enabled the gospel star to move into a better apartment and establish a professional recording studio, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career.

Frank Edwards also recounted another defining moment when internationally acclaimed gospel minister Don Moen recognised him at The Experience. He said Don Moen called him by name and expressed his desire to collaborate with him, a connection that elevated both his music career and ministry.

The inspiring testimony serves as a reminder that great dreams can begin from the most unlikely places, proving that dedication, faith, and perseverance can transform humble beginnings into global success.

Frank Edwards’ story is a powerful reminder that talent, persistence, and faith can open doors that once seemed impossible.
