French Open Day 5: Sinner thrashes Gasquet as Djokovic, Gauff advance

Jannik Sinner decisively defeated the retiring Richard Gasquet at the French Open on Thursday, while Novak Djokovic advanced his Grand Slam record pursuit at Roland Garros.
Second seed and former finalist Coco Gauff secured a spot in the last 32, as 18-year-old Mirra Andreeva progressed with ease.
World number one Sinner comfortably beat 38-year-old Gasquet, competing in his 22nd and final French Open, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 in under two hours.
Returning from a three-month doping ban at the Italian Open in May, Sinner reached the final but fell to defending Roland Garros champion Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
Against Gasquet, Sinner was sharp, saving three break points to clinch the first set and controlling the match on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Novak Djokovic advanced his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title, defeating Frenchman Corentin Moutet in straight sets, despite a medical timeout for apparent foot blisters.
The 38-year-old, who last week in Geneva became the third man to win 100 ATP titles, overcame a resilient Moutet 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7/1) in three hours and five minutes.
Djokovic will next face either Canadian 27th seed Denis Shapovalov or Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic, moving closer to a potential quarter-final matchup with Alexander Zverev.
