Freezy Macbones Donates GHS3K to Late Boxer Bahubali’s Daughter Ahead of High-Stakes December 20 Bout

Ghanaian-UK based professional boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah made a compassionate donation of GHS 3,000 through his MacBones Foundation to the young daughter of the late boxer Ernest “Bahubali” Akushey on December 18, 2025.

Freezy Macbones’ Act of Kindness: GH¢3,000 to Late Ernest ‘Bahubali’ Akushey’s Daughter Amid Preparations for December 20 Title Defense Challenge

The gesture, widely shared and praised across Ghanaian media and social platforms, underscores the strong sense of brotherhood in the local boxing community, especially coming just days before Macbones’ own high-stakes fight.

Ernest Akushey, a charismatic super middleweight/light heavyweight fighter from Chorkor known for his entertaining and durable style, tragically died on September 23, 2025, at around age 32.

His passing occurred just 11 days after suffering an eighth-round TKO loss to Jacob Dickson at the Bukom Boxing Arena on September 12/13, where he absorbed significant punishment.

The incident prompted the Ghana Boxing Authority to temporarily suspend all boxing activities nationwide and sparked investigations by the National Sports Authority into fighter safety protocols, marking the second such tragedy in Ghana within months.

Freezy Macbones, an unbeaten light heavyweight with a inspiring backstory of rising from construction work and hardship in Ghana to professional success in the UK (where he started boxing late at age 27), timed the donation amid intense preparations for his upcoming bout.

He faces Jonathan “Worldwide” Tetteh tomorrow, December 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana’s Legon Sports Stadium in Accra. The fight, promoted by Legacy Rise Sports in collaboration with Matchroom Boxing, is for a title— Ghana National Super Middleweight belt—and headlines a major card expected to draw significant attention.

The rivalry has been heated, featuring multiple tense face-offs: one upon Macbones’ arrival at Kotoka International Airport in November, another explosive confrontation at Black Star Square on December 17 where security intervened, and ongoing verbal exchanges building hype for what promises to be a fiercely competitive matchup between two skilled Ghanaian prospects.

Macbones’ act of kindness has resonated deeply, highlighting support for Bahubali’s family—including his young child left behind—while reminding the fraternity of the risks involved as another big night approaches.
