Former NPP Chairman Freddie Blay subtly criticized the government for abruptly canceling ‘The Convention,’ a Pan African event on Sunday, January 7, 2024, organized by The New Africa Foundation, founded by Cheddar, also known as Nana Kwame Bediako.
Mr Blay’s comments followed widespread government criticism for canceling an approved event, with critics suggesting the cancellation could have occurred before the scheduled date.
Cheddar, the event’s organizer, accused the government of only refunding GHC10,000 out of the GHC30,000 paid for the venue. During an interview with the media, Mr. Blay refrained from outright condemnation, citing the organizer’s alleged misrepresentation on the application form.
He expressed his willingness to allow the event to proceed but acknowledged room for improvement in handling the situation, stating, “there is always room for improvement.”
