Fred Pappoe Urges Black Stars to Sustain Momentum After Impressive World Cup Qualifier Wins

Former Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe has called on the Black Stars to maintain their consistency and momentum following two consecutive victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana’s impressive wins against Chad and Madagascar have reignited the team’s World Cup qualification hopes.

The Black Stars had faced criticism for their recent poor run, but they responded with convincing victories, defeating Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and Madagascar 3-0 in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifying series.

Ghana’s triumphs have propelled the team to the top of the Group I standings, with four games remaining in the qualifiers. The Black Stars have accumulated 15 points after six games, positioning themselves favorably for World Cup qualification.

Pappoe expressed his delight at the team’s resurgence, stating, “We are all happy, and we will urge them to continue working hard. We assume everything is working well for us from the results we are getting, so we hope it continues like that for us. The team must maintain momentum after a successful international break this time.”

The 2026 World Cup qualifying series will resume in September 2025, giving the Black Stars ample time to prepare and build on their recent successes.

With their newfound momentum, Ghana will aim to maintain their lead in Group I and secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
