Four persons remanded for dealing in narcotics

An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded four persons for supply and use of narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

They are; Barikisu Abubakari, trader; Daniel Senanu, mason; Sanusi Issah, craftsman; and George Ofori Duodu, sculptor. They would reappear on February 7.

Superintendent of Police, Mr Kweku Bempah told the court that the complainants in the case were personnel from the National Patrol Department, National Police Headquarters.

He said on January 16 at about 1800 hours, the complainants were detailed to patrol parts of the Accra Metropolis and while on this mission, they proceeded to the Arts Centre and arrested Barikisu at a drinking spot.

He said during a body search on her, the team found a brown small bag with eighty pieces of wrapped hashish suspected to be a narcotic drug inside the bag together with an amount of GH¢ 120.00 suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the drugs.

The Prosecution said the accused named Daniel as her source of supply and led the Police to arrest him and in the process, Sanusi and George were also arrested.

The Prosecution said a search conducted on the three revealed a brownish and whitish wrappers each containing dried plant material suspected to be cannabis, a narcotic drug.

Exhibits retrieved are yet to be forwarded to the forensic laboratory for examination and report to assist the court.
