Former NAFCO CEO Arrested at Accra Airport Amid Ongoing Criminal Trial

Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) for about seven years, overseeing the management of the country’s food reserves and the supply of food to the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.

During his tenure, Mr. Aludiba was accused of allegedly diverting public funds through companies, including Sawtina Enterprise and Aludiba Enterprise, with the alleged involvement of his wife, Faiza Wuni Seidu, and some NAFCO staff members.

According to the prosecution, approximately GH¢50.8 million was paid to one of the companies, with only about 20 percent of the funds allegedly used to procure food supplies.

Mr. Aludiba was recently arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) after he allegedly attempted to access accounts that had been frozen as part of the ongoing investigations. He was arrested at the Accra International Airport on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The former NAFCO CEO was reportedly travelling to the United Kingdom for an optician’s appointment. According to court records, he had been granted permission to travel between July 4 and July 12, 2026, for the medical appointment.

Mr. Aludiba’s case has been before the courts for approximately 12 months. He has been charged with offences including stealing, conspiracy to steal, obtaining public property by false statements, and causing financial loss to the state, reportedly amounting to about GH¢300 million. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the allegations remain before the court.

The case is scheduled to come before the High Court for review on Monday, July 6, 2026.
