Former Accra Hearts of Oak playmaker Salifu Ibrahim has agreed to switch his nationality from Ghana to Benin. The talented midfielder, who currently plays for FC Drita in Kosovo’s Superliga, is expected to receive a call-up to the Benin national team, also known as the Squirrels, in their next squad announcement.
Ibrahim’s decision to represent Benin marks a new chapter in his football journey. The 25-year-old has been making waves in European football with his creativity, vision, and set-piece ability, which are seen as valuable assets that could bolster Benin’s attacking options.
Ibrahim enjoyed a successful spell with Accra Hearts of Oak, winning the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup double. His impressive performances earned him a move abroad, and he has been playing for FC Drita in Kosovo’s Superliga.
With his new nationality, Ibrahim will be eligible to represent Benin in international competitions, including the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. His inclusion in the Benin squad is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team’s attacking lineup.
