Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has responded to questions regarding missing containers at the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
Addressing concerns about his alleged involvement in a syndicate responsible for the disappearance of these containers, Mahama dismissed the accusations and called for a thorough forensic audit to establish the truth.
“If that is the case, so let it be. It will come out in the forensic audit,” he stated. “Let the record show that Dubik Mahama was part of the syndicate. If that is what we are looking for, let’s look for it. But what would be my aim to be part of a syndicate to take containers out? Do I live in a container house? Have you come into my house and seen it built with a container?”
Dubik explained that the containers in question were shipped to Ghana for ECG but were not cleared due to financial constraints.
As a result, they were placed in an unclaimed goods area at the port, where some became the subject of an investigation.
“The conversation at hand is this: Containers arrived for ECG, but ECG didn’t have the money to clear them. The containers were placed in an unclaimed area. Yes, they were there for a long time, and some of them became the subject of investigation. However, because they remained in the port for an extended period, some of these containers cannot be found.”
He further questioned the thoroughness of the search conducted for the missing containers, emphasizing the need to check all terminals at GPHA before drawing conclusions.
“How many terminals are there at GPHA? Have we gone to every single terminal to determine whether the containers are there? Let’s go through all the terminals. Don’t just say, ‘I went here, I counted, and that is it.’ Let’s check every terminal or go through the system,” he asserted.
Dubik comments come in response to growing concerns over missing ECG containers at the port, raising questions about possible mismanagement or foul play.
Former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, insistence on a forensic audit suggests confidence in clearing his name while ensuring accountability within ECG and GPHA.
