Football in Europe is run more professionally – Jordan Opoku

Ghana football has produced some of the best midfielders on the African continent and one of such players is Jordan Opoku.
Known for his slick passing and classy performances during his heydays, the former Kotoko midfielder has opined that, football in Europe is run more professionally than in Ghana.

” My stints in Europe taught me a lot about football. Out there, football is run more professionally compared to other African countries like Ghana. The players are paid well, the systems and everything that is needed to enhance the quality of the game is in place and that makes the difference “

The former Excelsior Midfielder also urged Ghanaian  football administrators to raise the standard of our game in order to match the level of Europe . He believes that despite the quality of players the league possesses and the talents abound in the country, the level of professionalism in the local game can’t be compared to that of the Europeans.

” I’m also pleading with the administrators to also help in their own ways to ensure the game gets better for us all. Administrators in Europe also play key roles in the development of the game”

Jordan Opoku enjoyed a short stint with Eredivise side Feyenoord, where he played alongside Liverpool legend Dijk Kurt and ex-Chelsea star Solomon Kalou in the academy.

The midfielder also mentioned his best players he played with in his career.
“I enjoyed playing with Michael Akuffo, Mark Sekyere, and Daniel Nii Adjei. They make playing very easy for me. We won a lot of games for Kotoko with this midfield.

Opoku’s first call up for the Ghana national football team was for a friendly match against Argentina national football team, and Opoku earned his debut in the match on 1 October 2009.

In November 2013, coach Maxwell Konadu invited Opoku to be a part of the Ghana national football team squad for the 2013 WAFU Nations Cup.
Opoku helped the Ghana national football team to a first-place finish after beating their Senegalese counterpart by three goals to one.

Opoku was part of the Ghana national football team squad that finished runner-up at the 2014 African Nations Championship.
