A section of the pop[ulace are calling for a ban on cokked food sellers due to their refusal to practicing social distancing and the other hygienic protocols listed by the Ghana Health Serve aimed at reducing the covid-19 pandemic.
They noted that, selling without a nose mask, hair not covered, taking money from one person to the other without hand washing or using hand sanitizers which could increase the infection rate of the pandemic.
Normal routine fitness at work procedures employed by food business as part of their Food Safety Management System (FSMS) should ensure that infected workers are excluded from food premises.
Staffs that are unwell or have symptoms of covid-19 should not be allwed and should be informed about how to contact medical professionals.
They contend that, this is imperatives because if an infected worker handles food it is possible that they could introduce virus to the food they are working on.
Achimota Government hospital has already confirmed 10 cases of covid-19 among food vendors and 3 taxi drivers
Some Ghanaians are asking the government to develop a policy to guide these food vendors to ensure a proper hygienic method such as wearing of the nose mask, frequent hand wash, sanitizing of hands, covering of their hair and keeping the environment where they sell their food clean.
