Fast-rising Nigerian street pop sensation, Ayo Maff, has credited his meteoric rise in the music industry to a single moment: his unexpected collaboration with Fireboy DML.
In a candid interview on Trending, Ayo Maff opened up about how the remix of his breakout track Dealer—featuring Fireboy—transformed his career overnight.
“Without Fireboy, there would be no Ayo Maff. He gave me that thing I had been looking for,” he said, acknowledging the superstar’s verse as the turning point in his journey. “So thank God and thank you to Fireboy.”
The Dealer remix didn’t just rack up streams—it became the biggest song on Spotify Nigeria in 2024, catapulting Ayo Maff into national stardom and earning him a Headies Next Rated nomination.
The young artist, known for his gritty, street-rooted lyrics that touch on themes like police brutality, survival, and poverty, says he never saw the collaboration coming. “It was a big surprise. I didn’t even expect Fireboy to jump on it,” he revealed.
Since that collaboration, Ayo Maff has been riding high. He recently performed at London’s O2 Arena, opening for Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Asake—a moment he said he visualized long before it became reality.
Now listed by Spotify as one of the artists to watch in 2025, Ayo Maff is preparing to drop his debut album titled The Prince of The Street, promising a deeper dive into the sounds and stories that shaped him.
From the hustle of the streets to international stages, Ayo Maff’s journey proves that one verse can change everything.
