FIFA World Cup: Baba Iddrisu ruled out of the World Cup 

Black Stars and Real Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu has been ruled out of the 2022 World Cup after picking an injury against Athletico Madrid last Wednesday night.

The 26 year old limped off on the stroke of halftime and never returned after the break in RCD Mallorca’s home win over the Rojiblancos in the midweek and was replaced with Andres Battaglia. 

The transformative midfielder was named in Ghana’s provisional 55-man squad which released coach Otto Addo for the Mundial.

Iddrissu, who has made 11 La Liga appearances for RCD Mallorca this season so far, is one of the highly-rated midfielders expected to be named in Ghana’s final squad which would have been made official on Monday, November 14.

After undergoing a scan on his injury, the extent has been determined and is confirmed the player won’t be in Qatar for the global football competition.

The Black Stars have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The competition will commence on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
