FIFA Announces list of Ghanaian referees for 2025

FIFA has unveiled the official list of Ghanaian referees approved to officiate international matches for the 2025 calendar year. The list comprises 10 Center Referees, 10 Assistant Referees, one Futsal Referee, one Beach Soccer Referee, and one Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

In accordance with FIFA regulations, it is mandatory for each Member Association (MA) to propose new referees or renew the appointments of existing ones on the FIFA list annually. The selection process involves rigorous requirements, including successful completion of FIFA-approved fitness and medical tests.

The Referees Committee of the Association oversees the nomination process, ensuring that all candidates meet FIFA’s eligibility criteria. Once the nominations are finalized, the list is forwarded to FIFA for final validation. FIFA retains the authority to reject any nominee based on their standards.

Approved referees earn their FIFA badges for the calendar year, from January to December.

Their re-nomination for subsequent years depends on their performance.  It is important to note that the FIFA badge remains the exclusive property of FIFA for the year.

This announcement underscores the importance of maintaining high standards in officiating, as these referees will represent Ghana on the global stage. The approved referees now have the responsibility to uphold the integrity of the game and showcase the quality of Ghanaian officiating in international competitions.

This development highlights FIFA’s commitment to ensuring the best officials are selected and signals an opportunity for the nominated referees to excel in their respective roles.
