The month-long Homowo festival in LA Traditional Area reached its climax today, with dignitaries and participants celebrating with joy and unity. Nii Obodai Adai IV, the La Mankralo, expressed deep gratitude to the gods for their protection and blessings over the past year, urging the people of La to continue embracing love as a key to community development.
The ceremony saw several prominent figures paying homage to the La Traditional Council, including Honorable Member of Parliament for Ladadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, Hon. Rev. Solomon Kotey Nikoi of the Ladadekotopon Municipal Assembly, former MP Hon. Vincent Odotey Sowah, and other distinguished guests.
Nuumo Yemo Obroni VII, the La Kpa Wulomo, led the ritual performances, offering thanks to the gods and encouraging the people to embrace peace. The festival’s climax will culminate in a procession through the principal streets of La, where people will symbolically hug each other, signifying love and the resolution of any conflicts from the past year, as they look forward to peace in the year ahead.
