The Fanteakwa branch of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) is urging government to put in workable measures to reduce the hardship brought about by the lockdown in certain parts of the country
Over two hundred and fourteen (214) people have tested positive to the covid-19 and counting. This, the Party believes has a dire hardship on the people.
In a release signed by the Chairman of the NDC branch of the Constituency, Mark Okraku Tenkorang
took a swipe at the New Patriotic Party MP for the constituency for Fanteakwa South whose only focus, was the NPP executives the constituency, in such a difficult time .
Okraku Tenkorang was unhappy to hear that the MP for Fanteakwa South Kofi Agyekum has given a filled LPG cylinder and five hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢500.00) each to the NPP polling station executives in the constituency totaling three hundred and sixty (360) to take care of themselves this period in curtailing the spread of COVID-19. Below is the release
The CODVID-19 global pandemic which has affected most of the countries has affected Ghana too. As at today Sunday 5th April, 2020, those who have been tested positive have reached two hundred and fourteen (214). This worrying situation calls for immediate measures and assistance from each and everyone especially those in authorities who control the state resources.
In the light of this, it was unpleasant to hear that the member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South Hon. Kofi Agyekum has given a filled LPG cylinder and five hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢500.00) each to the NPP polling station executives in the constituency totaling three hundred and sixty (360) to take care of themselves this period in curtailing the spread of COVID-19. Even though it may be a kind gesture to his party members, we see it as unfortunate since he ignored the majority of the people in the constituency.
Fanteakwa South district assembly has placed some items like Veronica buckets, tissue and liquid soap in some of the communities in the district which we see it a good effort to help the district but it is still not enough. For instance a community like Dwenase which has a population of about two thousand people was given only one point of call to wash our hands. That means, one Veronica bucket, soap and tissue.
By this release, we are calling on the MP to use part of his common fund to support the masses other than the selected few.
Moreover, we are also appealing to all other individuals to support the fight against the Corona virus by giving the people hand sanitizers and enough hand washing “equiments”.
Signed
Mark Okraku Tenkorang
(Constituency Chairman)
