The rains in Accra on Monday, left in its wake a sad development that has left many residents around Teshie and its environs in total shock and disbelief.
Eyewitness accounts reaching Ahotor Fm indicate that a woman who was driving along Teshie Bush road enclave around 9pm in a company of her children in a saloon vehicle were sadly swept away and submerged by the ravaging flood along that stretch of the road.
The said vehicle however, sunk deep into the gutters and as at Tuesday morning nobody knows the whereabout of the woman and her children.
According to various reportage, any attempts made to established contact with the Ghana police service has proven unsuccessful.
The incident has been christened as one of the tragic occurrences that occurred after yesterday’s heavy torrents of rains. Additional reports has it that many roads in Accra are blocked and inaccessible resulting traffic situations that have intensified in the capital city affecting bricks businesses and other important activities, within the region.
A contrived revelations avowed to the fact that, several victims who were affected by the devastation of the heavy downpour have been displaced from their homes and properties in millions of estimates lost.
From all indications, It looks as if every time it rains in Accra, the region is confronted by one form of disastrous incidents or the other, but the irony remains that following the juicy promises made by our leaders after the June 3rd fire and flood disaster which claimed several lives, no action plan is taken to avert this unfortunate development.
Similarly it is evident that no pragmatic and proactive measures were adopted to avert these setbacks and avoidable calamities which have become albatross in the annals of the country.
