Failure to address issues brought us here – Stephen Deegbe tells government.

Stephen Deegbe, a regional communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Greater Accra region, has criticized the Akufo Addo-led NPP government for not addressing the sale of SSNIT hotels to Hon. Bryan Acheampong.

Deegbe’s comments follow organized labor’s decision to call off their strike, issuing a one-month ultimatum to SSNIT to resolve the matter.

Deegbe argued that if the government had acted sooner, especially during the #handsoffourhotelsdemo, the situation would not have escalated to this point.

He highlighted that Hon. Bryan Acheampong, being a Member of Parliament and a cabinet minister, is constitutionally barred from acquiring state property, yet the government has not taken appropriate steps to address this.

Speaking on Property Daybreak with Anigye Hene Abeiku Yamoah, Deegbe noted that Acheampong did not seek approval from the Speaker of Parliament for his acquisition of state property, a requirement under the constitution.

He urged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop blaming the opposition NDC for inciting public dissent and to take responsibility for their actions.

Deegbe emphasized that the NDC believes it can govern better and called on the government to fulfill the promises made to Ghanaians.
