FA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku Leads Historic Stakeholder Engagement in Wa

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and CAF 2nd Vice President, has held a significant and historic engagement in Wa, the capital of Ghana’s Upper West Region.

This forms part of his ongoing nationwide regional tour aimed at deepening stakeholder involvement and driving grassroots-to-elite football development across the country.

During this landmark first-ever such visit to Wa, he directly interacted with a wide array of key figures in the local and regional football ecosystem. These included club owners and CEOs from various divisions, club administrators, match commissioners, senior referees, Catch Them Young referees, technical directors, and other executives.

The session provided a vital platform for open discussions on pressing challenges, emerging opportunities, innovative pathways for sustainable growth, and the overall advancement of football in the region.

The engagement highlighted President Simeon-Okraku’s firm commitment to a bottom-up revolution in Ghanaian football, focused on fixing foundational elements to build a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant national football structure.

He outlined tangible progress under his administration since 2019, such as enhanced investments in regional football associations, consistent support for colts and youth programs—including annual allocations for football supplies—and direct financial backing for Premier League and lower-tier clubs to foster stability and competitiveness from the ground up.

Accompanied by notable figures like the Chairman of the Upper West Regional Football Association Alhaji Sadugu Yahaya, GFA Regional Football Coordinator Daseebre Adu Asare, Wa Suntaa SC President Arif Daud, Chief of Staff Michael Osekre, and Dreams FC President Jiji Alifoe Mohammed, the Wa visit marked the kickoff of a broader four-day working tour across the three Northern Regions.

This initiative underscores his vision of inclusive growth, creativity, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration to elevate Ghana football at all levels, starting from the regions outward.
