“Expert Weighs in on Ghana’s Energy Woes and Government Expectations”

Ghana’s energy sector is indeed complex, and Mr. Sumah’s comments highlight the challenges faced by the sector. The fact that uninterrupted power supply for two weeks has never been achieved in Accra, or the wider country is a stark reminder of the work that needs to be done.

It’s interesting that Sumah argues against labeling recent load shedding as “dumsor” by the opposition, emphasizing that power outages can occur due to technical issues. This distinction between intentional and unintentional disruptions in power supply is crucial.

Regarding the new government, Sumah’s call for patience and time to work is reasonable. The government’s efforts to address the country’s problems, including those in the energy sector, should be given a chance to bear fruit.

In fact, the government has already taken steps to address the energy sector’s challenges, including the development of a National Energy Policy aimed at guiding the development and management of Ghana’s energy sector. Additionally, initiatives like the Renewable Energy Policy Review are underway to identify gaps and solutions in Ghana’s renewable energy sector.
