Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has firmly stated that during her tenure as Education Minister, there were no examination paper leaks.
In a recent interview, she expressed concern over the alarming frequency of paper leaks under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
“Under my leadership as Education Minister, not a single exam paper leaked. Yes, in 2016, a total examination was cancelled and students had to retake it, which led to people calling me all sorts of names. But my focus has always been on ensuring the best for the students’ future,” she explained.
Speaking on Radio One 100.7 FM with Nana Kwabena Addo, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also addressed accusations that the NDC opposes the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy.
She dismissed these claims as baseless and challenged critics to provide proof of such allegations.
“Let me be clear—we will not cancel Free SHS. In fact, we will make it better. We won’t be spending money on past questions for students, but we will certainly improve the system. I have never said, and I’ve never heard John Mahama say, that we will cancel Free SHS,” she emphasized.
Her comments highlight the NDC’s position on education reform, focusing on enhancing the current system rather than dismantling it.
