Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), remains in state custody despite completing a court-ordered seven working day remand, as his legal team confirms he has been rearrested in connection with a separate investigation.
Mr. Adu-Boahene is currently facing charges including stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state—allegations tied to the diversion of GH¢49.1 million.
He was initially remanded on Friday, May 2, over claims of witness tampering in the ongoing case.
However, during court proceedings on Tuesday, May 13, his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, revealed that Adu-Boahene had been rearrested after the initial remand period had expired.
While specific details of the new arrest were not disclosed, the Attorney General had previously indicated that the former security chief was also under investigation for alleged misconduct linked to an internet connectivity project at Ghana Water Limited.
The presiding judge has adjourned the current case to May 26 for a case management conference.
The state prosecution has filed all its witness statements and is expected to formally disclose them to the defense by May 20.
