kunle Ogunrombi, also known as K-Peace, the winner of Nigerian Idol season 5 in 2015, has accused the show’s organizers of failing to deliver the prize money and gifts he was promised.
In a recent appearance on Nedu Wazobia’s Honest Bunch Podcast, K-Peace revealed that despite being announced as the winner and receiving a N7.5 million cheque and a car, he never received the actual prizes. The singer shared how the organizers kept delaying the payment, leaving him with no money in his account and struggling to survive.
Describing the experience as “deceptive,” K-Peace spoke about how, despite winning the N7.5 million, he was left without resources. In his own words, “I came out of the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account.”
He further explained how, as the winner, he went around Lagos for interviews without even enough food to eat, despite the promise of a cash prize. The car was supposedly still being branded, and he was told his trip to Dubai was still pending. “What was announced on national television was that I won N7.5 million with a car, and I was supposed to have a two-week trip to Dubai. But I was going through hell. Plenty talks dey.”
At this time, there has been no confirmation of whether K-Peace eventually received his prize.
