
The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has emphasized the urgent need for the Ghana Police Service to establish a dedicated 24-hour policing unit to align with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
Speaking with the leadership of the Ghana Police Service in Accra, the Minister underscored the critical role of law enforcement in ensuring the success of the government’s strategy to create a fully operational round-the-clock economy.
He noted that without enhanced security measures, businesses and workers may be hesitant to participate in the initiative, which aims to boost productivity, job creation, and economic growth.
“The government is committed to building a robust 24-hour economy, but for this vision to be realized, we must ensure the safety and security of businesses, workers, and the general public at all hours. That is why I am calling on the Ghana Police Service to establish a dedicated 24-hour policing unit to provide the necessary protection and maintain law and order,” he stated.
The Minister further explained that the specialized policing unit would focus on high-risk areas such as commercial districts, transport hubs, and industrial zones where businesses operate beyond traditional working hours.
He also emphasized the need for increased police patrols, advanced surveillance technology, and community engagement to strengthen public confidence in the security system.

The Minister of Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak assured that the government would work closely with the police administration and other relevant agencies to provide the necessary resources and support the 24-hour economy initiative.
