Ernest Nuamah Undergoes Successful Surgery
Ghana international Ernest Nuamah has undergone a successful surgery to correct the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury he sustained to his left knee. The injury occurred during Lyon’s game against Lille on April 6, 2025.
Nuamah was forced off the field just five minutes into the match after a ground duel with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson. The surgery was performed by Dr. Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet at a private hospital.
Lyon has pledged full support to Nuamah, promising to do everything possible to ensure his successful return to fitness.
“OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to enable him to return in the best possible conditions,” the club stated.
The injury is a significant blow to both Lyon’s campaign and Ghana’s national team, which values Nuamah’s pace, creativity, and work ethic.
Nuamah has been instrumental in Lyon’s success this season, making 33 appearances, scoring six goals, and providing two assists.
