Eric Adjei, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has clarified the suspension of employees, stating that he didn’t sack anyone, contrary to social media claims.
Instead, he asked employees to stay home pending investigations into irregularities surrounding their employment.
According to Adjei, records from the finance department show that employees received allowances instead of salaries, despite having appointment letters from the previous administration.
He questions the legitimacy of paying allowances for six years in a government institution, hinting at potential criminality.
Adjei expressed disappointment that some employees took to social media to discuss internal issues, rather than resolving them within the organization.
Former Communications Director Oppong Brenya supports Adjei’s decision, citing irregularities in employment and salary payments under previous management.
The suspension aims to address these irregularities and ensure compliance with labor laws and public financial regulations.
NEIP management has initiated steps to regularize employment and integrate staff into the government payroll system.
