‘This might be my last studio album,’ Tiwa Savage hints at retiring from music

Nigerian singer and Afrobeats icon Tiwa Savage has hinted that she may retire from music, suggesting her upcoming studio album could be her final project. The 44-year-old mother expressed her feelings of exhaustion, stating, “I am tired, I don try” in a recent Instagram story.

While she mentioned the possibility of her next album being her last, specific details such as the album’s title and release date have not yet been disclosed.

Tiwa Savage, born Tiwatope Savage on February 5, 1980, in Ikeja, Lagos State, burst onto the music scene in 2010 with her debut single “Kele Kele Love,” quickly establishing herself as a prominent figure in Nigerian music. However, her journey began much earlier, as she spent years gaining experience as a backup vocalist for artists like Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, and Destiny’s Child.

Her international profile grew when she competed in the UK edition of The X Factor in 2006, reaching the top 24. In 2009, Tiwa secured a significant publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, writing songs for artists including Jaicko and Kat DeLuna. She received her first Grammy nomination in 2010 for her collaboration with Fantasia on “Collard Greens & Cornbread.”

Over the years, Tiwa has released numerous successful albums and collaborated with many renowned artists around the globe.
