English-born Darko Gyabi Keeps Ghana Option Open

Hull City midfielder Darko Gyabi has left the door open to representing Ghana at the senior level, despite being born in England.

The 21-year-old has represented England at various youth levels, including the U-20 team, but hasn’t featured for the England U-21 side since November 2024.

Gyabi, whose parents are from Ghana, maintains strong ties to the country and visits regularly. “I love going back to Ghana. My entire family is from Ghana,” he said. His Ghanaian heritage is a significant part of his identity, and he’s open to representing the Black Stars in the future.

With Ghana intensifying preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Gyabi’s progress in the Championship could put him on the radar. Ghana coach Otto Addo will likely be monitoring his development closely, especially given Ghana’s Group L opponents, including England, Panama, and Croatia.
