
Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has initiated criminal investigations into the mysterious disappearance of 1,328 shipping containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at the Tema Port.
The missing containers, which contained critical electrical equipment imported for national energy projects, were reported lost following a committee of enquiry’s findings.
Addressing the matter, Mr. Jinapor assured that the government would take swift action to uncover the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
“This is a serious issue that cannot go unpunished. We are launching a full-scale investigation to identify those responsible and ensure accountability,” he stated.

Audio PlayerMeanwhile, Deputy Ranking Member on the Energy Committee in Parliament, Collins Adomako Mensah, has pledged the Minority’s full support for the investigation.
He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in managing public resources.
“We will not relent in demanding answers and ensuring that those found culpable face the full force of the law,” he said.
The missing equipment raises concerns about port security and potential corruption within the supply chain.
Authorities are expected to involve law enforcement agencies, port officials, and ECG representatives in the investigation to trace the whereabouts of the containers and prevent future occurrences.
