Energy Minister Dr. John Jinapor Assures Power Sector Challenges Will Be Resolved by End of May

The Minister of Energy, Hon. John Jinapor, has assured Ghanaians that the recent challenges facing the country’s power sector will be resolved by the end of this month.
Speaking during a media briefing on Monday, Dr. Jinapor acknowledged the intermittent power outages that have affected various parts of the country in recent weeks, attributing them primarily to ongoing maintenance works at several key power plants.

“We understand the inconvenience this situation has caused citizens and businesses alike, and we are working around the clock to restore stability,” Dr. Jinapor stated. “The disruptions are temporary and necessary to ensure the long-term efficiency of our energy infrastructure.”

According to the Minister, maintenance activities are currently ongoing across multiple plants, including the Tema and Aboadze power enclaves. He explained that these upgrades and servicing works are crucial to preventing more severe breakdowns in the future and are part of a broader plan to strengthen the national grid.

Dr. Jinapor emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply and called for public patience and cooperation as the technical teams complete the scheduled works.

The Energy Ministry has also indicated that a detailed load management timetable will be made available if necessary but remains confident that such measures can be avoided with the timely completion of maintenance efforts.
However, Dr. Jinapor reaffirmed that the current situation is under control and will be resolved before the end of May.
