LASHIBI, Ghana, 22 December: The Chief Executive Officer of Universal Multimedia, operators of Ahotor 92.3 FM, Radio 1 100.7 FM, and other subsidiaries, Dr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has joined management and staff of Ahotor 92.3 FM to celebrate the station’s end-of-year party.
The event, held at the Tinsel Town Hotel and Bar at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region, brought together staff and their loved ones for an evening of music, food, drinks, and celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo expressed appreciation to the staff for their dedication and hard work throughout the year but cautioned that the coming year would demand more commitment and responsibility from everyone.
“Next year will not be business as usual. It will be a year of action. Everyone must step up their game and work harder,” he said.
Wishing the staff well ahead of the New Year, the CEO added humor and warmth to his remarks, praying for God’s protection and guidance as the year draws to a close.
“As we approach the end of the year, I pray that the Almighty God who has brought us this far will see us safely into the next year whether you are skipping over, jumping over, or somersaulting over we will all cross over alive and give glory to God,” he told the gathering.
With 2025 marking the 10th anniversary of Ahotor 92.3 FM, Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo reflected on the station’s journey, describing it as one that has survived a harsh media environment through perseverance and faith.
“Only God knows the challenges we have endured over the years. But through the determination of the Board, management, and staff, we have survived and grown,” he noted.
He disclosed that he has invested significant resources to reposition Ahotor 92.3 FM to compete favorably with some of the country’s leading media houses.
“We have invested heavily to elevate the station and bring it to a level where we can compete with the bigger media houses. We have provided the tools, infrastructure, and equipment. However, delivery is in your hands. You can have all the equipment, but without the right strategies, you cannot realize their full potential,” he emphasized.
Dr. Ofosu-Ampofo further challenged management to intensify efforts to generate more revenue, stressing that the station must become financially self-sustaining.
“After 10 years, the station should be able to run in such a way that if the transmitter breaks down tomorrow, you can replace or repair it without relying on the CEO. If you cannot generate the income to fix critical equipment, then you are in trouble,” he warned.
He urged staff to make the Ahotor 92.3 FM brand more attractive to advertisers and partners in order to generate the needed revenue, which would, in turn, be reinvested into staff welfare and operational growth.
The CEO also revealed that he has tasked the Board of Ahotor 92.3 FM to introduce measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the coming year.
These KPIs, he said, would be assessed quarterly to evaluate performance and justify each individual’s role within the organisation.
According to him, the new performance-driven approach is aimed at strengthening accountability, boosting productivity, and positioning Ahotor 92.3 FM for sustained growth in its next decade of operation.
