Emmanuel Addai has reaffirmed his strong desire to represent the senior national team, declaring that playing for Ghana remains his ultimate ambition.
Despite enjoying a promising campaign with FK Qarabag, the forward is yet to receive an invitation to join the Black Stars. Addai’s performances, however, have not gone unnoticed.
The attacker currently stands as the only Ghanaian player to have scored in the UEFA Champions League this season, playing a key role in Qarabag’s impressive run to the knockout phase. Their European journey eventually came to an end following elimination by Newcastle United.
Speaking in an interview with TV3’s 3Sports, Addai expressed patience and faith regarding his national team prospects.
“I haven’t had any contact yet,” he revealed. “But I believe they’ve seen my performances. Everything happens in God’s time. I’m not in a hurry.”
Beyond personal milestones, Addai emphasised his deep emotional connection to Ghana and his desire to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s football history.
“I really want to represent Ghana because I love my country. I grew up watching Ghana lose finals, and I want to help bring joy to my people.”
The forward added that his long-term legacy is not defined solely by his club career abroad.
“I want to be remembered not just for playing outside, but for doing something meaningful for Ghana. I really love Ghana.”
Addai has scored four goals across all competitions this season, continuing to strengthen his case for national team consideration as Ghana builds towards the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
