Eleven Wonders Seal Dramatic Return to Ghana Premier League with 2-1 Win Over RTU
Techiman Eleven Wonders have made a sensational return to the Ghana Premier League after a three-year absence, edging out Real Tamale United (RTU) 2-1 in a thrilling Division One League playoff final at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
The match was marked by intense drama, with Eleven Wonders’ Farouk Ameyaw scoring the decisive goal in stoppage time. Frank Awere had given Eleven Wonders an early lead in the 13th minute, only for RTU’s Blabala Bamon to equalize from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.
As the match seemed destined for extra time, Ameyaw stepped up to score the winning penalty in the 90th minute, sending the Eleven Wonders faithful into raptures. The win cements Ameyaw’s place in club folklore as the hero who delivered Premier League football back to Techiman.
The victory marks the end of a long and arduous journey for Eleven Wonders, who were relegated from the Premier League three seasons ago.
The team’s resilience and determination have finally paid off, and they will now look forward to a fresh campaign among Ghana’s football elite.
Real Tamale United, on the other hand, will have to regroup and prepare for another season in the second tier. Despite a valiant effort, they fell short of securing promotion to the Premier League.
