Eleven Wonders in Crisis: Coach J.E Sarpong exposes severe management ineptitude hours after resignation

Former Eleven Wonders coach J.E. Sarpong, a.k.a “Shapiro” has dropped a bombshell revelation barely weeks after taking charge of the Techiman-based club.

The experienced tactician  tendered his resignation just 20 days into the job, after he had been appointed to replace Nii Odartey Lamptey, who himself dramatically quit the hot seat following eight rounds of matches without registering a single victory in the Ghana Premier League last season.

Sarpong was announced as the new head coach on November 2, but by the third week of the month he had already walked away, becoming the latest casualty in what has become a revolving door at the club currently rooted to the bottom of the 2024–25 Premier League table.

Speaking exclusively after his departure, the veteran trainer pulled no punches as he laid bare the deep-seated administrative rot that forced his hand.

According to Coach Sarpong, 76, players have been owed several months of salaries and bonuses, while basic feeding arrangements collapsed completely during his short stint.

“Management didn’t speak to me. For two weeks, I didn’t hear anybody’s voice. Nobody spoke with me and as a management member, you must know what is going on. Call the coach: ‘What are the problems? How do we solve them?’ None of them did that.”

“Even at the training grounds, there was no management member, they were all outside. That alone made me annoyed and angry”, He added.

“Eleven Wonders’ challenges are down to administrative lapses, and sometimes the players can go three days without eating,” he revealed.

He added that the situation had become untenable, stressing that professional footballers cannot be expected to perform under such dire conditions.

“Serious welfare issues that need urgent attention. Footballers deserve better,” Coach Sarpong declared.

The sudden exit marks yet another turbulent chapter for Eleven Wonders, who have now lost two coaches in quick succession amid a disastrous campaign that has left them winless and marooned at the foot of the standings.

Club officials are yet to respond publicly to the damning allegations.
