Eleven Wonders have moved quickly to fill the void left by J.E. Sarpong’s shock resignation, naming former New Edubiase United and Tema United boss Emmanuel Aidoo as their new head coach on a deal until the end of the season.
The appointment, first revealed by AhotorSports, ends a chaotic 20-day spell under Sarpong, who walked away last week citing deep-rooted administrative chaos and unpaid player wages. The veteran trainer, who took over on November 2, oversaw just two matches — both defeats — before tendering his resignation on November 21.
Sarpong’s exit capped a nightmare run for the Premier League newcomers, who have collected only three points from 11 games (two separate 0-0 draws, a 1-1 draw and 8 losses) and sit rock-bottom of the table, seven points from safety.
Emmanuel Aidoo, 48, is no stranger to rescue missions. He masterminded New Edubiase United’s promotion to the top flight in 2022 and kept them up the following year on a shoestring budget. His time at Tema United saw the club punch above its weight, reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2023 with a compact, high-energy style.
Club sources say Aidoo has been handed a simple mandate: keep Eleven Wonders in the Ghana Premier League or face the consequences.
The new gaffer will waste no time getting started. He takes charge from the touchline on Thursday, November 27 when Wonders face Division One outfit Tumantu Domenasi FC in the MTN FA Cup Round of 64 at the University of Ghana Stadium (3:00 PM kick-off).
A win in the cup could lift spirits ahead of a daunting league run that resumes next week against Dreams FC. For a squad that hasn’t tasted victory since last season’s promotion playoff, the message from the dugout is clear: the fightback starts now.
