The Electoral Commission of Ghana has expressed unwavering confidence in the integrity of the electoral process, emphasizing that the results of the upcoming elections are impervious to tampering. Deputy Chairperson Dr. Bossman Asare assured the public that the commission’s systems are designed with robust safeguards to prevent any form of manipulation or interference.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on electoral integrity, Dr. Asare stated, “Even if the leadership of the Electoral Commission were replaced with individuals representing political parties, the structure of the systems ensures that no one can alter the election results.
He highlighted the multiple layers of checks and balances, including secure data transmission protocols, independent oversight mechanisms, and the active involvement of political parties and civil society organizations in the electoral process.
Dr. Asare further detailed the measures in place to uphold transparency, such as the use of biometric voter verification, real-time monitoring at collation centers, and the publication of results at polling stations before they are transmitted to the national tallying center
The commission reiterated its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, urging all stakeholders to play their part in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
