Election 2024: Reinstated NDC Central Regional Chairman vows to unite party for victory

Reinstated Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Central Region, Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, says he is back to unite the party for victory in the 2024 elections.

Prof. Asiedu was suspended from the party by the national leadership, citing anti-party conduct.

He was suspended for a month, along with the constituency secretary for Assin Central, Sadiq Broni Yeboah.

The chairman and the functional executive committee of the party in the Region had earlier suspended the Parliamentary candidate for Assin Central, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, on grounds of immoral acts and anti-party activities.

In a swift response, the General Secretary of the Party, Fiifi Kwetey, in a letter, noted that the suspension of the Party’s Parliamentary candidate was null and void.

According to Prof. Asiedu, his suspension was in the interest of the party and was based on his attempt to caution Mr. Migyimah, on issues that could affect the fortunes of the party in the 2024 elections.

The Regional Chairman received a rousing welcome upon his return to the Central Region, where he met with constituents of Awutu Senya East.

Speaking to party supporters after his return from a one-month suspension, Prof. Asiedu indicated that he is back to ensure that the party is united for victory in 2024.

“I came here with one purpose, and that is to unite the party for victory in the 2024 elections. As NDC members, we will settle our issues amicably and forge ahead.

“I went on suspension not for stealing, but to ensure that the right thing is done. Unfortunately, I was suspended, and it was for the interest of the party. You must all emulate the same. Never hold grudges against anyone in the party as supporters; it is for the good of the party,” Professor Asiedu said.
