Dr. Mrs. Hannah Louisa Bissiw Kotei, the National Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced that under a future John Dramani Mahama-led government, young people enrolled in the apprenticeship program will receive a monthly allowance.
She emphasized that this initiative is not new, as the NDC previously provided support for those in apprenticeship programs during their time in government.
Dr. Bissiw, while outlining the NDC’s women’s manifesto, explained that the introduction of a monthly allowance is part of a broader plan to help Ghanaians, particularly young women, acquire valuable skills that will benefit the country.
She noted that the NDC aims to create quotas, especially in trades where women are the majority, to encourage more young women to participate and gain skills.
Dr. Bissiw urged Ghanaian women to vote for the NDC and John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections, assuring them that the party has the interests of the youth at heart and is committed to better governance and youth empowerment through practical support like the apprenticeship allowance.
