The NDC presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has once again positioned himself as the only leader capable of rescuing Ghana from the catastrophic economic decline brought about by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During his campaign tour of the Upper West Region, Mahama addressed energized crowds in Nadowli and Wichaw, delivering a sharp and unapologetic critique of the NPP’s devastating economic mismanagement.
Mahama pulled no punches as he painted a bleak picture of the nation’s economic state, citing sky-high inflation, crippling debt, and a rapidly weakening cedi.
He squarely placed the blame on the NPP’s incompetent leadership, accusing them of systematically dismantling the economy and leaving millions of Ghanaians to suffer the consequences.
“The NPP has driven this country into a bottomless pit,” Mahama declared. “For eight long years, they’ve shown nothing but reckless disregard for the plight of ordinary citizens, and the youth are the ones paying the price.”
He condemned the current government for its failure to address the unemployment crisis, stagnant wages, and the overall lack of opportunity, which has crushed the hopes of Ghana’s younger generation.
“The NPP has stripped this country of its future, leaving our youth to grapple with despair and uncertainty,” Mahama said, his tone charged with urgency. “But let me be clear: the NDC will not stand by and watch. We will rebuild this economy from the ground up.”
In a rousing appeal to the nation’s youth, Mahama promised a complete overhaul under NDC leadership, pledging bold reforms that would reverse the damage done. “I understand your frustrations. I see your hopelessness,” he said. “But this isn’t the end. The NDC will restore your faith in this country. The NPP’s days of destruction are numbered—Ghana will rise again, and it will be under an NDC government.”
With a fierce determination, Mahama left no doubt that his vision for Ghana is one of economic revitalization, promising to put an end to what he called the NPP’s “era of incompetence.”
