The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed the Ghanaian government’s unwavering dedication to nurturing the potential of young people through focused entrepreneurship, comprehensive skills development, and inclusive economic participation.
At a distinguished event marking the King of England’s Birthday on Tuesday, November 25, held at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Accra, Minister Ofosu-Adjare delivered a powerful message about the government’s strong commitment to youth empowerment as a cornerstone of national development.
She detailed the transformative impact of the Edwumawura Programme as a flagship initiative designed to foster young entrepreneurs across the country. The programme annually assists 10,000 aspiring business owners by providing them with crucial training sessions, financial support for startups, and sustained mentorship from experienced industry leaders.
“In alignment with this year’s theme of honouring and celebrating our youth, the Government of Ghana is steadfast in its mission to create opportunities for young innovators and entrepreneurs. Through the Edwumawura Programme, we are not only investing in businesses but also in the future architects of our economy,” the minister emphasized with conviction.
She further explained that beyond financial aid, the programme instills essential business skills, nurtures creativity, and strengthens resilience among young entrepreneurs, giving them the confidence and tools necessary to thrive in competitive markets.
The Minister also called on stakeholders, including private sector partners and international organizations, to join hands with the government in expanding the reach and effectiveness of youth-focused initiatives, ensuring that no young entrepreneur with potential is left unsupported.
With the Edwumawura Programme at the forefront, the government aims to drive sustainable economic growth by empowering a new generation committed to innovation, job creation, and community development.
