Education Ministry Signs MoU with Google to Advance AI-Driven Learning in Ghana

The Ministry of Education has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with Google for Education to accelerate the use of Artificial Intelligence in Ghana’s classrooms.

The agreement was signed by the Minister for Education and MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, and Google for Education’s Global Managing Director, Kelvin Kells.

The partnership marks a major step in Ghana’s push to modernize education through advanced AI technologies integrated into teaching and learning nationwide.

Under the MoU, the collaboration will focus on strengthening digital literacy, building teacher capacity, promoting innovation in classrooms, and equipping students with 21st-century skills needed for a technology-driven global economy.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Haruna Iddrisu described the agreement as a transformative milestone.

“This collaboration reinforces Government’s commitment to leveraging technology, innovation, and strategic global partnerships to improve educational outcomes and prepare Ghanaian learners for the future of work,” he said.

The deal positions Ghana as a forward-looking nation harnessing AI and digital transformation to create a competitive, inclusive, and future-ready education system. Officials said it underscores government’s broader vision of ensuring no Ghanaian child is left behind in the rapidly evolving digital age.
