Education Minister Hosts UTAG and TUTAG Leadership on Education Reforms

The Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, today hosted the leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) at the Ministry of Education.

The meeting served as an opportunity to recognize their invaluable contributions to Ghana’s educational sector while fostering collaboration on critical reforms.

The engagement was aimed at strengthening the partnership between the government and key stakeholders in the education sector.

Hon. Iddrisu used the platform to acknowledge the associations’ support for the new administration and assured them of his commitment to addressing their pressing concerns through dialogue and collaboration.

In his remarks to the media, the Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to improving education across the country. He reiterated that the current administration, under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is committed to enhancing existing policies rather than dismantling them.

Addressing public concerns, Hon. Iddrisu reassured Ghanaians that the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy would not be abolished but rather strengthened to ensure inclusivity and sustainability for all.

“The government is focused on delivering quality and equitable education for every Ghanaian child. We are open to ideas and collaborative solutions that will make this vision a reality,” he stated.

This meeting is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Education to engage all stakeholders in the sector to drive reforms that address the challenges facing tertiary institutions and improve Ghana’s education system holistically.
