Hollywood just got a little more connected—Eddie Murphy has confirmed that his son, Eric Murphy, has tied the knot with Jasmin Lawrence, the daughter of fellow comedy legend Martin Lawrence.
The Beverly Hills Cop star broke the news during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, revealing that the couple chose to keep their wedding low-key.
“They got married like two weeks ago,” Murphy said. “Everyone was making these big wedding plans, and then they just decided they wanted to do something quiet, just the two of them.”
He couldn’t resist cracking a joke about the surprise elopement, noting that it likely saved his longtime friend a hefty bill.
“Yeah, we’re in-laws,” Murphy laughed. “He don’t have to pay for the big wedding now.”
Though fans may have hoped for a star-studded celebration—especially imagining the hilarious speeches both fathers could’ve given—the newlyweds opted for a more private beginning to their next chapter.
