The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will replace and upgrade 12 power transformers across six substations in Accra to boost electricity supply reliability in growing communities.
Approved by Energy and Green Transition Minister Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, the project targets substations in Adenta, La, Teshie-Nungua, Nmai-Dzor, Baatsonaa, and Lashibi. Each transformer will increase from 20/26 MVA to 30/39 MVA capacity, cutting overload risks and handling rising demand.
ECG’s March 27 statement emphasized the upgrades as key to nationwide supply stability. Phase one runs April 8–10, with short, planned outages for safety.
Detailed schedules for affected areas will appear on ECG’s official channels. The company pledged minimal disruption and thanked customers for their cooperation, calling the work a vital infrastructure boost.
