protesting alleged threats to their safety, stemming from actions by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah.
The Minister sought a court warrant for the arrest of the Ashanti East Manager of ECG. This was in response to power cuts at Kumasi Technical University and Kejetia Market due to outstanding bills, which the Minister felt hindered operations.
He expressed frustration over the manager’s perceived lack of communication prior to the power cuts. John Mensah, chairman of ECG’s senior staff, voiced concerns in a media interview, citing dangers in carrying out their duties.
They fear uncertain reactions from citizens pursuing unpaid bills, exacerbated by the Minister’s refusal to settle the matter out of court.
