Samuel Dubik Mahama, the Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has resigned from his position, Citi News can confirm.
In a letter to the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Dubik Mahama provided no official reason for his resignation.
The news comes as a surprise to many in Ghana’s energy sector, given that Mahama has held the position for only the past two years.
Sources within ECG and government circles have remained tight-lipped about the specifics leading to this unexpected turn of events.
He was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and took over the role on May 16, 2022.
Before becoming the Managing Director, he served as a non-executive director at ECG and has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors
Mahama previously worked as a non-executive director at GIHOC Distilleries, Country representative for Gulfsouth Forest Products, and Partner at Dubik & Associates, Wilkins Engineering, among others.
He is a legal practitioner and a graduate of the University of Ghana.
