The independent posturing of the Electoral Commission running on illegality declaring contested seats after the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election must stop.
This act, if not checked, is likely going to allow illegal candidates who are in the good books of the EC will be assisted through the recollation system after an election has been declared from a polling station.
The Deputy Director of Election for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in charge of IT Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer said this on Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show 92.3 FM and hosted by Alex Nana Dogbey in Accra.
Unfortunately, EC is defying the court order going ahead and carrying out this illegality of declaring seats as the institution has been served with a court order. The commissioners at the EC must be warned that they are not above the law are operating under the 1992 constitution and must carry out their respective duties within the confined of the law.
Dr Rashid Tanko reiterated that all the exercises carried out by EC are exposing the weakness of the institution under the leadership of Jean Mensah.
There is a need for the institution of EC to be checked and apprehended to stop this illegality and very optimistic saying NDC will use the law and the data they collate on the pink sheet at the court to win all the contested seats.
