The Opposition National Democratic Congress Youth Organizer for the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Abdul Rasheed has stated that the Electoral Commission boss Madam Jean Mensah conduct in the limited voter registration exercise may sometimes result in manipulation of data gathered in the registration if care is not taken by stakeholders. He stated this with Ahotor News in an interview in Accra.
The EC boss was advised to heed the numerous calls from Civil Service (CSOs) to create more registration centers for a smooth and speedy limited voters registration exercise has proven futile.
According to him, until the EC boss pays close attention to the calls of Ghanaians, there will be a suspicion that they are finding means to manipulate the elections come 2024.
He reiterated “We don’t understand what the EC boss is doing. Why can’t they extend the registration centers if indeed they are doing genuine jobs; this is the question since the institution is working for the state and not her personal work. We presume they want to manipulate the election results to favor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the near future” he alleged.
Mr. Rasheed Abdul reiterated that registrants below eighteen years must refrain from persuasions from the NPP to ruin their future, adding he said, the NPP keeps pushing under eighteen years to partake in the ongoing registration exercise, believing it’s illegal and can have negative impacts on their future.
