In a tragic incident in Dunkwa Kyekyerwere, Central Region, a cocoa buyer and Assemblyman for Kyekyerwere East, Hon. Kwabena Boateng, has been involved in a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two young individuals, a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old.
Hon. Boateng, who had been vigilant following the theft of 35 bags of cocoa from his shop, decided to personally guard his premises. At around 2 a.m., he noticed three individuals attempting to break into his cocoa-buying shop. When the suspects realized they had been spotted, they attempted to flee.
In response, Hon. Boateng fired his weapon in their direction, striking two of the individuals, while the third managed to escape.
Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the other died en route to the hospital.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community.
Following the incident, Hon. Boateng was arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.
The authorities are working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting, and the community is awaiting further developments.
